OMS ^® has completely redesigned all components of the 10 w and 21w HID lighting systems for 2003/2004. The heads are designed to be the smallest in the world, incorporate the ON/OFF switch (This eliminates leak prone rubber covered toggle switches), have special dampening to protect the bulb and have a proprietary front lense retention system to prevent leakage. Specially designed compression fittings add to the water tightness of these units at depth (max. Depth rating for the 10w is 1700 FSW and 1500 FSW for the 21W, as tested), and eliminate the need for makeshift hot glues and heat shrink-tubing that other manufactures regularly use.

The new SMART ™ 4 Ah and 8 Ah NiMH batteries utilize Thermisters and special high cycle "Click" devices to protect against thermal run-aways and overcharging. The Charger has an optional plug kit that allows use in the: UK, Europe, and Australia, in addition to the standard USA plug.

The light head can be held in your hand or you can affix the optional Goodman Handle (Fig. 1). Additionally there is an area to fasten a swivel snap to your light so that the light head can be mounted to your harness D-Ring. Waist mounting is also possible by utilizing a piece of webbing mounted between the (2) stainless steel bands.

OMS® has engineered a unique mechanical light head switch with a safety switch lock (patent pending) to prevent accidental " turn on" to prevent fires and "gear bag" meltdown. Our competitors use unreliable leak prone rubber covered toggle switches on the battery canister, that turn-on accidentally and do not have a safety switch lock.

OMS® battery housings use high impact PVC that if dropped will not distort, dent or crack. Many competitors use brittle plastic or dent prone stainless steel canisters (drop it, it may deform and not seal).All Phantom light heads and canister caps are Mil Spec Hard Coat anodized while our competitors continue to use soft black or silver anodizing!

OMS ® eliminates (2) points of failure by machining in the male threaded nipple on the light head and canister cap. Conversely all of our competitors lights have (2) extra points of failure at the point where the cord enters the light head and canister areas due to extra holes.
