Something about BeeNet
?What is BeeNet
BeeNet is a data communications network for beekeepers. Presently the following countries and institutions are connected Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, England, Finland, USA and IBRA.
BeeNet applies a smooth manner of communicating and the cost is just a small part of what the Internet costs. Additionally you don't need a Pentium or multimedia computer. It's enough with just a PC. However the computer must be equipped with an internal or external modem.
?What is available from BeeNet
There are both international conferences (Newsgroups), which are in English, and national conferences (Newsgroups), in the countries native language.
A few examples of the currently available conferences are:.
- International:
- Swedish:
- German:
- Finnish:
- In some BeeNet countries BeeNet users automatically receive an Internet address in the format: firstname.lastname@beenet.xx ; This gives the BeeNet user the added ability to send and receive e-mail to and from Internet users outside of BeeNet. This Internet access does not include access to the World Wide Web nor are files allowed to be passed from BeeNet into the Internet nor from the Internet into BeeNet.
As a user in BeeNet you receive a Mailer program which allows you to work off-line. Thus permitting the actual connection time to decreases dramatically.
You need a PC, not using double - space, drive space, stacker or similar. If you have a modem faster than 9600, the serial port should be equipped with a 16550AFN UART chip.
If you have any questions, please contact your local BeeNet sysop. Dial them (voice) or send them a snail mail or e-mail letter.
