The Raisin' Jane History

Raisin´Jane was formed in Febuary 1992 by Morten Morten(Vokal & guitar), Brian Kenneth Nielsen (Drums) and Michael Skaarup Madsen (Bass). Kasper Olsen (Lead Guitar) was later to join.

The idea for the band´s name came from Jeff Rycroft - Mortens songwrintig partner since 1986.

The band spent 1 1/2 years working towards it´s concept before giving their forst public concert. During that period Kasper Olsen left the band to concentrate on another band S.H.I.T., which was to record an EP to be released by ROSA. One of the bands first concepts was The Pilot, that was ment to go along with "Sympathy in Blue". Another was The Skinny Old Man - with the band posing like the old man...

Kasper was replased by Frank Lundgren and Gert Lumbye joined the band to take over Morten’s guitar playing.

In april 93´they recorded - live on tape a demotape with the songs Preacherman, Sympathy in Blue, Checking Out the White Socks, Shoebox Blues, I Get Dizzy, Pennies From Heaven, All Around The World In A Teacup and Raisin´Jane.

Wunderbaum - The Smell of Summer at Christmas...
During the summer ‘97 the band borrowed some equipment from Vestre Skole and started to record some of the songs that hadn’t been recorded yet as well as some old ones. The idea is to take the songs - one by one - and get them recorded so to end the songwriting of each song. The band also recorded a couple of old songs. Another idea was that the proces should not cost a penny - except for the cost of the Dat tape and the recordable CD’s. The present CD is the result of this project. It is recorded live on a Dat. The vocals are recorded on a 4-track - one track for Mortens lead vocal and one track for the backing vocals. It’s mixed on a computer with Cubase Audio. Its called Wunderbaum - The Smell of Summer at Christmas... - The CD is never released, but the test copys has become a collectors item!

The CD contains the new recordings of "When the cold wind blows", "Day Tripper", Weather the Storm", "The Sky is Falling Down", "Shoebox Blues", "All Around the World in a Teacup" and "New York City" - as well as songs previously released - all in all 17 songs.

The band works on new songs like "The Simple Things in Life" and "Doesn’t Matter" as well as taking up some covers like The Beatles’ "Don’t let me down" and Nazareths "Love Hurts".

Under the bandname JEFF the band gave their last concert in Nyborg in 2000.
