Raisin´Jane was formed in Febuary 1992 by Morten Morten(Vokal & guitar), Brian Kenneth Nielsen (Drums) and Michael Skaarup Madsen (Bass). Kasper Olsen (Lead Guitar) was later to join. Kasper was replased by Frank Lundgren and Gert Lumbye joined the band to take over Morten’s guitar playing. In april 93´they recorded - live on tape a demotape with the songs Preacherman, Sympathy in Blue, Checking Out the White Socks, Shoebox Blues, I Get Dizzy, Pennies From Heaven, All Around The World In A Teacup and Raisin´Jane.
Later that year the band recorded the same songs at The Joint Studio with John Skæg and Rene Larsen. The band decided to press a promotion CD with 7 of the songs, and released the CD along with their debut concert - held at Badstuen in Odense. The CD was released through Phonebox Records.
Just before the band’s debut Michael decided to leave the band. He was replaced by Bent Pedersen - later to change his name to Benjamin Pedersen. The band appeared on TV2/fyn with an interview with Morten and a short video clip with the band playing "All Around The World In A Teacup" - placed in a large tea-cup.
The band played venues such as Rasmus Raskkollegiet, Strandgården, Andebølle Ungdomsskole, Viborg Katedralskole and was chosen by Alex Nyborg Madsen to enter the local Tour-Rock competition. In Easter 1994 the band played a double concert with another Odense band Naked Stone at Magasinet in Odense. The band appeared at Odense Teknikum and after yet another succesfull concert Kenneth left the band. The new drummer is Søren Wrang, who used to play with Gert in their younger days in a band called Warnin’. The band decides to record an EP with the new songs "Spiders", "Personal Handheld Remotecontrol Lovething" and "Suicide" as well as a version of John Lennons "Jealoux Guy". The CD i recorded at Hot Sound Studio by Torben Lysholm and mixed at Birdland Studio by Søren Mikkelsen. Jeff Rycroft flyes over from England to help as a vocal producer.
Benjamin leaves the band to concentrate on the band "Bloom" - later to call themself "Junior". New basplayer Ole Willer arrives just in time to be on the new concept photo with Batman-masks.
The band recorded "Angel" for a compilation CD released in October 1995 by Danartist. Under the name Fat Franks Jukebox, Raisin’ Jane was seen in the compagny of; Stig Møller, Ole Friis Band, Kim Larsen & Kjukken, The Blues Brothers Souvenir Show, HanCats, Tintin og Hårtørrerne, Dream City, Sigurd Barrett, Flemming Krøll, Sanne Brüel Trio and Troels Trier & Rebecca Brüel. The CD was later released by EMI-Medley and may still be found in shops in Denmark. Raisin’ Jane appears at Venues such as; Københavns Universitet, Tønder Gymnasium, Glamsbjerg Fri- og Efterskole, Herning HF, Svendborg Gymnasium, Midtfyns Gymnasium, and several times at Rasmus Raskkollegiet and Odense Universit on sevral occasions. To prepare for Midtfyns Festival ‘95 the band gave a concerts at Dr. John as well as Nyborg Statsfængsel - The State Prison in Nyborg In August 1996 the band apeared at Danskdagene i Lund - Sweden along with The Cliffters, Amzone Groove and Sigurd Barrett. Ole Willer gets his own printing compagny that took up the most of his time. The band decided to find another bass player to take his place - Morten Boeriis - now called Boeriis joined the band. Raisin’ Jane appeares at Midtfyns Festival ‘97, in Morten’s Nightowl show. Wunderbaum - The Smell of Summer at Christmas...
In august 1998 Gert leaves the band, as he starts a job as an engenier at Danfoss in sønderjylland. Morten takes up guitar playing again, and the band is now a quartet. The band works on new songs like "The Simple Things in Life" and "Doesn’t Matter" as well as taking up some covers like The Beatles’ "Don’t let me down" and Nazareths "Love Hurts". Under the bandname JEFF the band gave their last concert in Nyborg in 2000. |
