Just announced: David Gilmour will be playing at the historic Circo Massimo in Rome, Italy, on September 27th, 28th, 29th and October 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2024.
First access to tickets will go to Italian residents pre-ordering Luck and Strange from the official David Gilmour Italian Album Store (including those who have already done so), with the general sale of tickets beginning on Friday, May 17th via this link at Ticketone.it
Other than the store presale, there is a Virgin Radio Presale at this link, from May 15th at 9am until May 16th at 11:59pm. There's also a Sonyo Presale running at the same time as the Virgin Radio Presale.
As with the Royal Albert Hall tickets, we suspect these shows - the only ones that will be performed in mainland Europe - will be extremely popular. The capacity of the venue should be higher than the London venue, so hopefully plenty of fans will be able to secure tickets.
JUST ANNOUNCED: David Gilmour is doing six nights at London's Royal Albert Hall in October 2024, to coincide with the release of his new album Luck and Strange, which comes out on September 6th. Gilmour and his band will be playing the legendary venue on October 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 14th and 15th, and tickets go on sale next week (full details below).
In the recent Uncut interview Gilmour talks about the mechanics of sorting out the set list for the tour, which should include the new album, but also selected Pink Floyd songs from over the years. The band is yet to be announced but he notes that "I thought we'd get people who are genuinely creative and give them a little more space. That's the plan. So we're going to have some of the younger guys alongside Guy [Pratt] and the Webb Sisters, who sang with Leonard Cohen on his last tours".
It is worth noting that the six shows at London's Royal Albert Hall are the entirety of his UK performances this time around. We suspect there could be dates in other countries announced in due course.
Tickets for these concerts go on sale in two stages. Fans in the UK/Ireland pre-ordering Luck and Strange from the official David Gilmour UK Album Store will get first access to tickets, via an exclusive ticket pre-sale on Thursday 9th May through Ticketmaster UK. If you have, or intend to, order from elsewhere, there IS, however, a "No purchase necessary" option you can select at David's store to get the pre-sale code without having to cancel your existing order.
The window to qualify for the pre-sale ends at 3pm UK on Wednesday, May 8th, with all existing pre-orders from the official David Gilmour UK Album Store also eligible. Pre-sale codes will be sent out later that day.
Tickets will then go on general sale at 10am UK on Friday, May 10th, through this link at Ticketmaster UK. We are sure that demand will be high for these special concerts.
To be released on June 7th, 2024 are all three of Nick Mason's solo albums as individual LPs and CDs for the first time since their original release. In August 2018, the limited edition Unattended Luggage box set gathered the three album together but now you can get them separately.
For those who need reminding, Fictitious Sports was Nick's debut solo album from 1981, which included collaborations with a variety of different musicians including Robert Wyatt and Carla Bley.
1985's Profiles saw him hook up with 10cc guitarist Rick Fenn, and is a mainly instrumental album except for tracks Lie for a Lie which features vocals from Maggie Reilly and Floyd bandmate David Gilmour. and Israel, sung by UFO keyboardist Danny Peyronel.
Finally, there's White of the Eye, another collaboration with Rick Fenn, a soundtrack for the British thriller movie of the same name. Originally released on January 1st 1987 on Harvest in the UK, and Columbia in the US, to coincide with the film's release, the 2018 saw it appear on CD for the first time.
