GENTLE ACTIONS  – KUNSTNERNES HUS 23. OKTOBER – 14. NOVEMBER 2010

Gentle Actions er et prosessbasert tverrfaglig prosjekt med fokus på kunst, miljø og handling. Gentle Actions skal fungere som en sosial skulptur og et eksperimentelt møtested hvor en lang rekke miljøengasjerte mennesker i et bredt faglig spenn kommer sammen med et aktivt og deltakende publikum. Med grunnlag i en utvidet forståelse av hva begrepet økologi innebærer, ønsker Gentle Actions å legge til rette for et mangfold av krysskulturelle og samfunnskritiske forbindelser fundert i bærekraftige tankemåter og visjoner. Utforskningen av hvordan kunstnerisk kunnskapserfaring kan ha en medvirkende stemme i en overbyggende og helhetlig miljøtenkning står sentralt. Slik håper prosjektet å være et levende og aktivt bindeledd mellom teori og praksis, mellom materiell og ikke-materiell produksjon. Gentle Actions har et mangfoldig program, og vil blant annet involvere foredrag og presentasjoner og workshops. Oslo Dokumentarkino har også utarbeidet et mangfoldig filmprogram i samarbeid med Gentle Actions.

Gentle Actions er en sosial skulptur formet av Anne Karin Jortveit og Eva Bakkeslett i samarbeid med Kunstnernes Hus.

Gentle Actions is an art & ecology happening with an experimental visual framework that will take place at the gallery Kunstnerenes Hus in Oslo/Norway from the 23rd of October till the 14th of November 2010. It will be an interactive meeting place which combines the transformatory power of art with interdisciplinary ecology. Gentle Actions will function as a social sculpture and gather people engaged in social transformation within the arts, culture, humanities, social and nature based academia together with cultural activists and an actively engaged public.  It will be an interactive and collaborative platform that includes dialogues and lectures, various presentations, workshops, discussions, and an extensive film program curated by Oslo Dokumentarkino in collaboration with Gentle Actions. The exchange of knowledge, ideas and experience is integral to the project.  In this way we hope that Gentle Actions will generate new ways of thinking and acting to face the enormous challenges we are facing on earth at this moment.

Gentle Actions is a social sculpture  shaped by Anne Karin Jortveit and Eva Bakkeslett, in collaboration with the gallery Kunstnernes Hus and Oslo Dokumentarkino.
