Nordic Information on Gender (NIKK) is a co-operation body under the Nordic Council of Ministers. We gather and communicate knowledge about policy and practice, facts and research in the area of gender equality and equal rights for LGBTI people with a Nordic and cross-sectorial perspective.

Sexual harassment and prevention in the Nordic workplace was the focus of a two-year Nordic research initiative.

Several projects have developed new methods and tools in collaboration with labour market stakeholders, managers and employees. The results are now available in a new report from NIKK.

NIKK is now launching a publication that provides an introduction to the state of knowledge in the field of older LGBTI people’s living conditions.

The publication summarises the state of knowledge in the field and how researchers and other experts describe problems and identify actions required for change.

50 years after the start of co-operation on gender equality, the Swedish Presidency is now focusing on the equal Nordic Region of tomorrow

This year marks 50 years since the Nordic Council of Ministers decided on co-operation between the Nordic governments on gender equality issues. 

During its presidency, Sweden will focus in particular on combating men’s violence against women, other violence in close relationships and honour-related violence and oppression.

Nordic knowledge base highlights economic vulnerability in different stages of life

In conjunction with the summit of the UN Commission on the Status of Women NIKK publishes a knowledge base, focusing on this year’s theme of economic vulnerability.

 The knowledge base highlights a number of structural factors that favour men over women. There is also a need to understand how economic vulnerability affects the lives of different groups.

New Nordic co-operation projects in the LGBTI area granted funding

Following the 2023 call for proposals, the Nordic LGBTI Fund has awarded funding to three new co-operation projects. 

The projects will focus on the well-being of children and young people at school, economic equality for trans people, and LGBTI and ageing in the Nordic Region.
