Month 5
It has been a while, but it has been worth it! After six rounds of chemo, the treatment is terminated. He cannot do any better given the circumstances! Now we will have to get used to being a 'normal' family. The only risk we run now, is the tumor starting to grow again. Chance is it will, but internal radiation therapy will presumably be enough to cure that once and for all! Chances for new tumors are thought to be minimal. The working hypothesis is, that since the chemo-therapy worked so well on the existing tumor, there will be no other 'potential tumors' alive. But we will have to await this. Etienne's central line was removed last friday, a small operation, which went smoothly. It really is a relief, being able to hold him and play with him, without having to think about his tubes. It is really amazing how much energy is released - life seems easier right now, with lots of possibilities.
