Hubster and I came here on a Saturday night for a charity event that may or may not have promised a roller derby. Turns out it was a roller derby team that was organizing the event, which featured live improv, burlesque, a silent auction and charity spanking booth.
It was a super fun night with lots of dancing. We entered the silent auction but ended up losing out to higher bidders. Music was great all night and the festivities were a lot of fun, too. Service was super fast and the prices were reasonable. Both the Hubster and I were a bit confused as he went to the ladies' room first (not noticing the other room with the urinals), and later when I went to the ladies' room, I found that one of the stalls had a urinal in there. So I guess you go to whichever one you feel like? The were clean. That's what was important.
I really liked the whole layout of the place that had a bar area, then a dance area, then stairs so you could go up and watch people dancing (there's another bar upstairs, too.) The DJ was in a special area, and he actually kept the music at a level which allowed people to talk to one another without losing their voices. Something I wish more places would do.
It was a VERY cool spot to hold an event, and I'd like to check it out again on a regular night.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Anna V.Toronto, ON78300280Sep 18, 2008First to Review
Goodhandy's is a tranny bar. Which is wonderful. It means that Toronto's queer community is diverse enough to support a bar devoted to transgendered ladies and the men who love them.
They have dance parties and private rooms on the upper level which is also a sort of balcony that overlooks the dance floor.
It's owned by Todd Klink and Mandy Goodhandy, two great staples in the Church Street community.
Overall, i dig the atmosphere. Amazon women, music, frosty drinks and some great performances by local acts.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - John M.Toronto, ON3372Oct 26, 2008
If you live in Toronto and are queer, you know Goodhandy's. If you are visiting from out of town, drop in and visit one of the queerest bars in town.
T girls and bois are the star attraction and there is always a great show going on. Its a great place to hang out, even on nights when it is just a bar. Great music, wonderful real people, and some of the best themed event nights in the city.
Love it!!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Kevin F.Toronto, ON2883May 12, 2009
Goodhandy's offers a variety of event nights for different groups of the gay community; such as tranny's, gay boys, lesbians, voyeurs, etc. They offer shows/acts where guys have sex shows on stage and interaction with the audience.Goodhandy's is a bar that has the right idea, but is poorly executed.
The execution is poor because these variety nights all end up the same, lame. Because the acts involves young guys (25 and under) it attracts a really old crowd (60+, no joke). I suggest they offer more mainstream nights to attract a more attractive, younger crowd.
Goodhandy's has the ability to be a great bar in Toronto as it offers something new to the stale Toronto scene, but it is dragged down by the poor crowd and so/so male performers.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Melissa F.Vancouver, BC337898285Jul 17, 2009Updated review
like with any place you become a "regular" at, I'm upping this place to 5 stars.
Beautiful women to dance with and kickass top 40 that keeps you moving. I can always rely on this place to have great tunes, no cover and a good crowd [ even though some nights are packed and others are almost empty].
such a friendly awesome place, highly reccommended if you just wanna dance.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 19, 2009Previous reviewumm, best place ever?
i went here for a friend's birthday and it was seriously an awesome place and awesome venue.
cool history- started out as a sex worker house and on some days has some sex shows on the stage.
the music is awesomely easy to dance to (aka not a trance/rave club) and the venue is small with a nice loungey area near the bar where you can bump into friendly pepople and a nice balcony that overlooks the dance floor.
highly reccommended! - Daniel F.Toronto, ON16109Sep 25, 2010
I have been several times and I really enjoyed the crowd friendly and no attitude. One of the owners Todd was really friendly and welcoming and was completely attitude free. I helped him move something in his club and he offered me a free drink, classy. I enjoy their special event the last Saturday of the month! It has a very unusual crowd for Toronto and has a very diverse group of people. I enjoy it and I am glad that it is around.

This place was awesome. Now though, it's been re-branded as club 120.

Goodhandy's is a sexy dark bar with a really diverse crowd. I went often during their last Queer Idol singing competition and had a great time. Trans-positive (A+++), queer-positive, ally-positive, good place to dance - just not accessible at all, lots and lots of stairs. Otherwise, great! Will go again.
