software Classic posted by AmigaPapst on 29-Apr-2024 15:49:43 (915 reads)
Alinea Computer is very pleased to be able to offer the version for AmigaOS 3 (68k) as a digital download in addition to the Quake 2 version for AmigaOS 4. Steffen Häuser is responsible for the porting and has implemented numerous features that have not yet been available for any Quake 2 port for 68k.

In addition to supporting the various Mission CDs and MODS, the
realised the playback of the soundtracks as OGG Vorbis (for Vampire V4
instead as AIFF files) and multiplayer/network gaming.

Please note that in order to run the 68k version of Quake 2, the
data files of the PC version are required. These can be downloaded via
Steam at a favourable price.

Free MODS and Mission CDs will be available in the next few days in the
Aminet will be available.

Here are all the features and system requirements at a glance:

Features

- 68040, 68060 and 68080 compiled version (during installation
selectable)
- MiniGL and Software Renderer
- full support for Mission CDs The Reckoning and Ground Zero
- Ports to the unofficial mission CD Zaero and to approx.
50 multiplayer mods will be published on the Aminet in the near future, these
Downloads require the new version of Quake 2,. they do not work
with other ports
- For Vampire users: The USB gamepad of the Vampire is supported
- For Vampire V4 users: Background music is played via AIFF (the Ogg
Vorbis music files of the Gog/Steam version of Quake2 will not be played in the 080 version.
converted to AIFF format during installation)

(requires the Gog or Steam version of Quake 2, where the Ogg Vorbis
files are included)

Amigaworld.net News   PERSONAL PAINT 7.4 UPDATE
Amigaworld.net News posted by amigakit on 27-Apr-2024 15:48:34 (1048 reads)
PERSONAL PAINT 7.4 UPDATE: ARM NATIVE ACCELERATION FOR THE A600GS

A-EON Technology purchased rights to Personal Paint from Cloanto in 2014 which has led to notable development over the last decade for both Classic Amiga systems and Next Generation systems.

Personal Paint has a rich record of being bundled with home computers over the years. In 1996 PPaint 6.4 was part of the Escom's Amiga 1200 Magic Pack. Even more recently in 2016, PPaint 7.3 was bundled with A-EON's powerful X5000 computer system. In 2024 the tradition continues with a new version 7.4 being pre-installed on the forthcoming A600GS. Read full news by clicking here

A-EON's latest update to this famous paint package accelerates 1080P and larger high resolution screens. 1080P is the resolution that most HDMI televisions operate at and the default screen mode of the A600GS. The drawing tools at this resolution would ordinarily be very slow. However they have now been significantly accelerated by using ARM native code.

The latest Personal Paint 7.4 from A-EON is ready-to-run on the A600GS and will bring a nostalgic paint package experience to modern 1080P televisions.

Trevor Dickinson, A-EON’s co-founder commented: “Personal Paint became the leading easy-to-use Amiga program for bitmapped graphics and animation and was one of the first to support AGA and RTG. We developed updated versions for both 68K and PowerPC, and it's great to see the ARM accelerated version joining the family."

Personal Paint 7.4 will be launched in Q2/2024 on the A600GS computer system.

software Classic   Gopherized - A Gopher client for Amiga
software Classic posted by Allanon on 17-Apr-2024 17:05:40 (1121 reads)
I've released Gopherized, a Gopher client developed with AMOS Professional :)

Thanks to some very useful extentions I was able to code a gopher client that seems pretty reliable and stable, but i need some more testers before the final release along with the sources!

Gopherized offers some cool features (for an AMOS program) like:
- Session history browsing with a cache system
- Bookmarks
- Bookmarks scanner (allow you to know when a bookmarked page has new content)
- Screen depth & colors can be customized
- Keyboard driven
- Download of files & pages
and more :)
