Simpler Right to Rent checks for tenants with pre-settled status
The Home Office has made changes to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) designed to simplify the Right to Rent and similar checks for pre-settled status holders. Letting agents and landlords will only need to carry out a check at the beginning of a tenancy.
Private Tenancies Act Section 8 coming into force on 1 September
The Smoke, Heat and Carbon Monoxide Alarms Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2024 set the standards for the number and type of alarms that must be installed in privately rented properties. Once they come into force, letting agents and landlords will be responsible for installing and keeping alarms sufficient in any property they rent out.

In the residential lettings sector, our members report an increase in the number of prospective tenant registrations. However, while stock levels have increased slightly, demand continues to outstrip supply.
