Beginner’s Course August 2018 Coming Soon!

Start the year right and come try this awesome sport!

Underwater rugby is an action-packed, 3D, weightless sport played with a water-filled ball, mask and snorkel in a swimming pool. You’ve got to hold your breath, dive down and tackle opponents to score a goal in the basket at the bottom of the pool.

Underwater rugby was invented by German divers looking for away to keep fit in winter, but has now taken over the world. The team at UNSW was the first in Australia, and we now have teams in 7 cities across the country.

This 5 week introduction course will teach you everything you need to know to compete. Everyone is welcome to come along, make new friends, and try out an exciting new sport!

Wednesday sessions are in a shallower pool (2m), it’s great for swimming fitness, basic skills as an easy introduction for beginners.

Sunday deep pool sessions at Revesby

The real game takes place in a deeper pool, with a lot more room to move around in & enjoy a bit of space and depth. Revesby Pool is 3.5m deep and has walls on 3 sides, perfect for playing proper games and good training sessions. Beginners are welcomed as well.

Max Parker Leisure & Aquatic Centre, located in Revesby.

Check the calendar or the facebook page for details.

Thursday deep pool sessions at Leichhardt

Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre is a 5m deep pool for pre competition training sessions located in Lilyfield, which is a bit more intensive, allowing good quality deep games.

Check the calendar or the facebook page for details.

Tuesday girls training sessions at Victoria Park

We also have girls training sessions on every Tuesday night at Victoria Park Pool, Camperdown, which is a 3m deep pool.

Check the calendar or the facebook page for details.

Ocean games

There’s nothing like jumping in the ocean on a sunny summer afternoon and playing some UWR with schools of fish around.  Water temperatures are around 22 degrees in summer so you can play in a swimsuit, or a light wetsuit if you feel like it. Ocean games happen irregularly, but you can find out about it or encourage people to run one with the facebook page.
