Aarhus Vocal Festival (AAVF) proudly presents the theme Creation for 2024.
Creation – the act or process of making something that is new, or of causing something to exist that did not exist before
To create, to be creative, to be part of creation – these are all statements relating to the interchangeable cycle of process and product, of becoming and being – bound to the very condition of humanity and life itself. Everything around us is a result of creation, and all our engagements with each other and nature evolves around creating. Music is – and always has been – a starting point for human interaction with each other and with our surroundings. Everyday life, celebrations and ceremonies are all accompanied by musical creations. Music creates a connection between us, between our history, our presence, and our future, between ourselves and our surroundings.
With the festival theme, we wish to highlight the performative power of music through Creation in the broadest sense, as we embark on a creative voyage of vocal music traditions, innovation and creativity.
Let us bring Creation to life!
Join us for AAVF 2024.
Background
Aarhus Vocal Festival (AAVF) is one of the leading European festivals of contemporary choral and a cappella music primarily featuring pop, rock, jazz and world music. In 2024 AAVF will take place from May 17th to May 20th in the Danish vocal city of Aarhus. Almost 1000 vocal enthusiasts from all over the world get together for four intense days of workshops, lectures, concerts and “sing-alongs”, creating a special atmosphere and networking opportunities for professional composers, conductors, teachers and vocal performers as well as passionate ensemble singers of all levels.
Thanks to our volunteers for giving a hand and opening their heart to the festival community. AAVF is run by volunteers and we do all this for the love of vocal music and the joy of being together and singing together. Thank you for helping us make this vision come to life.
Thanks to our sponsors and business partners for supporting our festival.
A huge thanks to RAMA and Aarhus Musikhuset for being our partners. We couldn’t do this without you.
