Welcome to the homepage of Rune Bech, a Danish-born founder, executive and journalist.
In the early days of the Internet in 1998 Rune co-founded NetDoctor.com, an independent health information portal across several European countries. He has since also co-founded other health ventures such as Liva Health, a preferred digital partner of NHS England.
From 2001 Rune was digital head of TV 2 Denmark for six years, and a member of the national public service broadcaster’s top management team and programming board. Together with his team launching Denmark's leading TV and film streaming service TV 2 Play on December 6, 2004 (until 2012 called TV 2 Sputnik).
Originally kickstarting his media career back in 1989, Rune began as a foreign affairs correspondent for the Danish newspaper Politiken (Eastern Europe and London), and later a TV reporter for TV 2 Nyhederne covering international affairs.
As a passion project Rune re-opened Copenhagen's legendary jazz venue Jazzhus Montmartre on May 1st 2010 as a non-profit foundation staging 200+ live concerts a year. He was Montmartre's unpaid part-time CEO for ten years, and then engaged in keeping it alive through the board.
Rune also serves as a trustee on the boards of Nonclassical (a London-based cultural institution) and Iscene.dk (a Danish performing arts publisher).
Rune has previously been chair for ten years of the fibre broadband provider Nianet A/S, and chair for three years of the TV and Internet provider Waoo.
In the media and arts world he has served as an advisor to JP/Politiken, Egmont, the regional film fund Film Fyn, and The Ministry of Culture (member of "Public Service Udvalget").
Rune is living betwen Christianshavn and Svendborg.
